This post contains spoilers for both seasons of Seggs/Life (using this spelling of the popular Netflix show so that this email actually makes it to your inbox). Do not read past this point if this show, Moonstruck, Beauty and the Beast, or Something’s Gotta Give, is on your TBW list.

I lurved the first season of Seggs/Life. It was outrageous, scandalous, and full of characters doing gasp-worthy things that went against societal conventions.

Perhaps I shouldn’t have been surprised when Season 2 ended with every single POV character (save the contrast/comic-relief couple) choosing…a conventional happy-ever-after with one single partner.

The finale included…

  • A decidedly undramatic breakup with Mr. Willing to Be With You for super-practical reasons.

  • Not one, but three marriages for the series’s most outrageous characters—one of which goes from serial cheating, cocaine, and hookers to happily settling down with a “vanilla latte” girlfriend from his past.

  • And, of course, a wedding ceremony epilogue with Mr. Passionate Love of Your Life, along with a whispered announcement from the bride that there’s a baby on the way.

I’m not mad at this show. Actually, I was struck by how unexpectedly satisfied I felt with the ending.
