AWESOME QUESTION:
I've read the book over and over, but I still struggle with independently identifying butter. When I see a list, it makes sense, but when I'm trying to add it to my own writing (fantasy, romance), all I can come up with is tropes.
What's worse is I feel like I'm missing butter in the current WIP, and also not feeling too good about the next one. Like Theodora Taylor, I don't want to just keep throwing myself into the next draft, sure this time it will be better.
So how did you train your brain to look for butter in your own ideas? What do you do when you're staring at the forest unable to find the dang trees?
